YOU can be involved, even if it’s in a small way, to help your local community.

WCT was set up by the Weardale Community Partnership in response to a locally identified need for accessible, flexible transport. We operate a ‘not for profit’ service to bridge gaps in services which may not be provided by public transport and commercial operators in the area.

North East Volunteers

Museums Live!is just one of nine exciting volunteering projects happening across the North East.  We're working together to make the most of new opportunities and approaches, share best practice and link up for practical challenges.

 

 

 

Museums Live! relies on public funds, as well as the commitment of its partner organisations,  to carry on working with young people in West Durham.  Thanks to our funders:

One North East is the Regional Development Agency (RDA) covering North East England - Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham, Tees Valley. Our vision is a vibrant, self reliant, ambitious and outward looking region promoting the benefits of living, working and doing business here.

Working Neighbourhoods Fund

Employment and economic regeneration are at the heart of WNF funded interventions.  The focus is to tackle poclets of concentrated worklessness in the most disadvantaged communities by providing the opportunity to develop more concentrated, concerted, community led approaches in getting people back to work and addressing the issues of worklessness and enterprise.

 

 

As well as our formal partners, we work with a wide range of organisations to offer the best we can to our volunteers.  These organisations offer placements, share expertise and provide spaces for our work to go ahead.

v inspired believes in free.  We do favours for free - and by doing them we can open the doors to do more of the things we want to do.  It's volunteering for the 21st century.

The Harehope Quarry Project

The Harehope Quarry project is located on the edge of the village of Frosterley in Weardale.  We are a workers co-operative offering environmental education, field studies, rural skills training, community development and community arts.

Ark on the Edge

Ark on the Edge is a sanctuary for those animasl which, for survival reasons, cannot be returned to their natural habitat.  It is also a rescue and rehoming centre for any animal which comes into the centre.

Durham Wildlife Trust

Durham Wildlife Trust's purpose is to protect wildlife and promote nature conservation.  We are one of the most active environmental organisations in the region, mangaing 25 nature reserves, a variety of species and habitat recovery projects and four visitor centres.

BTCV
